Get to know the new mission presidents assigned in the Caribbean Area

Our Caribbean Area welcomes three new mission presidencies in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico as detailed below:

President Ahmad S. Corbitt and Sister Jayne Corbitt President Ahmad S. Corbitt and Sister Jayne Corbitt

Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission

In Santo Domingo East, Dominican Republic, released were President Ahmad S. Corbitt and Sister Jayne Corbitt, and called were Brother Bret Gerald Smith and his wife, Jeanette Goates Smith, of the Jacksonville Ward in the Jacksonville Florida East Stake in which Brother Smith serves as president of a YSA branch. Previously, among other callings, he was a stake counselor and a bishop. He also served as a missionary in the Argentina Buenos Aires North Mission. He is the son of Galen Smith and Carol Pulsihper [sic].

Sister Jeanette Goates is a public affairs specialist and has been a counselor in the ward Young Women and Primary. She is the daughter of Delber Goates and Claudia Tidwell.

Both were born in Salt Lake City and they have four children.

José Manuel Santos and his wife, Madeline Ortiz Santos

Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission

Also, Santo Domingo West, Dominican Republic will have the service of José Manuel Santos and his wife, Madeline Ortiz Santos, of the Caguas Ward in the Caguas Stake in Puerto Rico. They will replace President James H. Nuckols and Sister Susan Nuckols. Brother Santos is currently the High Priest group leader. He was a stake president as well as district Young Men president and branch president.

He is the son of José Manuel Santos Caballero and Dominga Guzmán, and was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Sister Madeline Ortiz is a Relief Society secretary and was a counselor in her stake Relief Society presidency, president of the district Young Women as well as of the Primary in her ward. The sister was born in New York City, New York and is the daughter of Esteban Ortiz and Ana María Torres.

David Holt Smart and his wife, Brenda Tate Smart

Puerto Rico San Juan Mission

For San Juan, Puerto Rico, called to serve were David Holt Smart and his wife, Brenda Tate Smart, who belong to the Peninsula 3rd Branch, Hong Kong China District. Brother Smart serves as branch president and was a bishop, high council member, district Young Men president, and addiction recovery coordinator. He served his mission in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Sister Smart serves as a Sunday School teacher and was a counselor both in the stake and ward Young Women, addiction recovery coordinator, and a Seminary teacher. She was born in Tooele, Utah, and is the daughter of Richard Leon Tate and Martha Louise Crandall Tate.

They will replace Brother K. Bruce Boucher and his wife, Becky.
