Meet the New Mission Leaders for the Caribbean Area

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has called new mission presidents and their companions for the Santo Domingo East and West missions in the Dominican Republic and the Puerto Rico mission.

Luis C. Chaverri

Luis C. Chaverri, 49, and Lauren Chaverri, five children, Pococi Ward, Guápiles Costa Rica Stake: Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission, succeeding President Julio C. Acosta and Sister Ramona Acosta. Brother Chaverri is an area temple and family history adviser and former Area Seventy, stake president, stake presidency counselor, stake Young Men presidency counselor, bishop, branch president, branch presidency counselor, ward young single adult adviser and missionary in the Honduras San Pedro Sula Mission. He was born in Turrialba, Costa Rica, to Luis Gerardo Chaverri Madrigal and Julieta de los Angeles Leon Vargas de Chaverri.

Sister Chaverri is an area temple and family history adviser and Sunday School teacher and former stake Primary presidency counselor, ward Relief Society president, ward Relief Society presidency counselor, ward Young Women presidency counselor, Primary teacher and seminary teacher. She was born in Guapiles Limon, Costa Rica, to Ebal Rodriguez Barrantes and Analive Arrieta Rojas.


 

Hector David Hernandez

Hector David Hernandez, 40, and Emma Hernandez, one child, Don Justo Ward, Guatemala City Don Justo Stake: Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission, succeeding President Donald L. Tucker and Sister Sandra Tucker. Brother Hernandez is a stake president and former stake presidency counselor, stake executive secretary, FSY representative, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Guatemala City Central Mission. He was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to Hector Nery Hernandez Perez and Iris Marlene García Flores.

Sister Hernandez is a ward Young Women presidency counselor and former FSY representative, ward Young Women president, ward Relief Society presidency counselor, institute teacher and seminary teacher. She was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to Oscar Orlando Acosta Valdez and Eva Narda Vallecillo Romero de Acosta.


 

Paul Horstmeier

Paul Horstmeier, 62, and Karryl Horstmeier, four children, Alpine 2nd Ward, Alpine Utah North Stake: Puerto Rico San Juan Mission, succeeding President Joey L. Skinner and Sister Lisa T. Skinner. Brother Horstmeier is a ward executive secretary and ward organist and former high councilor, stake mission president, bishop, YSA bishop, bishopric counselor, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, Primary teacher and missionary in the Perú Lima South Mission. He was born in Provo, Utah, to Heinz Ludwig Horstmeier and DeAnna Smith Horstmeier.

Sister Horstmeier is a ward Relief Society activity coordinator and former stake Primary presidency counselor, ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women presidency counselor, ward Primary president, Activity Days leader and missionary in the Perú Lima South Mission. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Dean Guy Nielson and Koye Edwards Nielson.
