Prepare every needful thing

Prepare every needful thing

The Caribbean Area Presidency and the Welfare Department have organized an “Emergency Preparedness Month” to be held throughout March 2021, with a series of actions and events that will help each member and leader of the Church to  be prepared to face any eventuality, if it should happen.

As an additional help to that which the area leaders could offer, each unit is encouraged to organize activities, talks, presentations, workshops, etc., that serve as motivators for each member of the Church to:

·         Have their Emergency Backpack .

·         Be practicing basic home storage concepts and their personal preparation.

·         Be prepared to respond to natural disasters.

Responsibility of Stake and District leadership

Each stake and district, as well as wards and branches, must have their own emergency committee, emergency plan, and a plan for sacrament meeting in case of disasters that are appropriate to their own needs.

Instead of planning for each potential disaster that may occur, the Caribbean Area Presidency and the Department of Welfare encourage stake or district and ward or branch councils to focus on services or activities that may be suspended as a result of emergency situations such as lack of food, water, communication services, power, medical services, physical security, transportation. Leaders are encouraged to make specific plans for each eventuality.

Responsibility of members / families

With the guidance and support of Church leaders, members, either individually or as families, should prepare themselves to be self-reliant in times of personal or widespread emergency.

Elder L. Tom Perry said: “The need for preparation is abundantly clear. The great blessing of being prepared gives us freedom from fear” 1.

Whether there's an earthquake, flood, unexpected storm, or prolonged power outage, emergency preparedness can help you and your family dissipate fear, remain secure, calm, and safe. Therefore, each member is invited to participate in the talks, workshops and devotionals and complete the lesson of the “Area’s Temporal Preparedness Guide”.
