RootsTech Connect, the world's largest family history and genealogy technology event, will be held from February 25 to 27, this year in a virtual and free format for the first time. It will provide an experience to connect with people from all over the world and will have the participation of renowned experts and celebrities who will give lectures, talks and workshops.

FamilySearch,  the world's largest non-profit entity dedicated to family history and genealogy, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the sponsors of the event. Those wishing to participate should register on the  RootsTech  page.

The organizers claim, according to the information available on the website, that 'RootsTech Connect is unlike any other virtual event: no boring speakers or falling asleep in front of the computer screen. Rather, there will be a variety of inspiring learning sessions, uplifting messages by famous speakers, and hands-on activities to help celebrate our legacy year-round.'

Keynote speakers include international motivational speaker and best-selling New York Times author Australian Nick Vujicic (born without limbs); Lorena Ochoa, former Mexican golfer; Francesco Lotoro, Italian musicologist; Sharon Morgan, founder of OurBlackAcestry.com, Welsh writer and genealogist; Felipina Astrid Tuminez, President of Utah Valley University and former Microsoft executive; and Diego Lugano, a former Uruguayan professional footballer.

'A feature of everything that has a special value is that we always want to keep it. Nobody wants to lose it. RootsTech offers tools, ideas, resources, and conferences on how to preserve our family history. The interest of FamilySearch and the Church of Jesus Christ in inviting everyone to these kinds of events is to promote the preservation and promotion of the most valuable: the family,' said Rufino Díaz, FamilySearch manager for the Caribbean area.

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his wife, Patricia, will be the featured speakers on RootsTech Connect Family Discovery Day on February 27. Together with their family, they will talk about how we can connect with our legacy, our ancestors, our immediate family, and God.

His talk will be transmitted from Saint George, Utah, United States, Elder Holland's hometown. The Holland family will share memories and family stories through a video that was recorded in various locations in the area. It will air on TheChurchofJesusChrist.org  and  YouTube  on Saturday, February 27, at noon (Salt Lake City, Utah time).

Elders David A. Bednar,  Elder Gary E. Stevenson,  and Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will also host temple work and family history training for leaders of the Church. The event can be viewed on demand at any time as of February 25, 2021, by visiting the  ChurchofJesusChrist.org/family-history site or  church broadcasts page.

The rest of the content will be transmitted through the RootsTech page and will remain hosted there so that those who register can see it on demand according to their needs and interests. Those who wish to receive registration assistance can send a message to WhatsApp 849-214-0101.
